Area Agency On Aging of Western Arkansas - Fort Smith

As a caregiver, I have been working with and been assisted by the Area Agency for the last year. I have nothing but praise and admiration for the job they do, and how helpful they have been to me. All of the staff have been extremely courteous and demonstrate commitment to their jobs in every interaction. I especially single out Respite Coordinator Bente Ericksen for the amazing job she does and difference she is making for many families in Western Arkansas. I am very thankful for her, as are the other caregivers and their loved ones. The staff handling the new Guide Program have also been kind and very helpful. I cannot recommend this organization highly enough. I am very thankful we have this resource! Finally, I notice that most of the less than stellar reviews are from a number of years ago.... that is not the Area Agency that I know!

As care giver for a loved one who suffers from dementia, I want to especially acknowledge Bente with the Area Agency on Aging for the genuine concern and attention she has provided to me. Bente validates my anxiety and fears, and gives me the comfort of knowing I am not alone in this stressful journey. She has made a true difference not only in my life, but in the lives of many others.

I can’t say enough POSITIVE things about Area agency on aging. Without Bente , helping me navigate this path with my dads needs, I know, I could not have done it by myself. I had an AWFUL encounter with a VERY well known business that gave me no hope. All I can say, is I had things in place in less than a 8 hour time frame. So if you are looking for a loving company and staff, give them a call. If they can’t help you they will find out who can. They don’t stop unless the have helped you and the patient to their full ability.
