My husband, Fernando, was diagnosed with HCC/Cirrhosis only four to five months ago, and his courageous battle came to an end on July 17, 2026 in the comfort of his home. He underwent multiple immunotherapy treatments, but the disease was simply too advanced for them to make a meaningful difference. As his health declined and the medical team compassionately explained that nothing more could be done beyond keeping him comfortable, I was referred to Heartland Hospice. Making that decision was the hardest moment of my life, yet it was also the most loving and humane choice I could make for him. From the very beginning, God placed the right people in our path — especially his nurse, Marveta Lumsden. Her compassion, her presence, and her genuine humanity are gifts we rarely encounter in this world. She stayed by Fernando’s side for three straight days, offering comfort, dignity, and unwavering care. Even after his passing, she continues to check on me, making sure I am coping and not alone. The after‑hours on‑call team was also exceptional, always ready to address any urgent matter or question with patience and professionalism. Our nurse aide stood by us with kindness and dedication, and Chaplain Gustavo provided spiritual strength and peace during moments when we needed it most. Heartland Hospice has an extraordinary team. In the most painful chapter of our lives, they gave Fernando comfort, dignity, and love — and they gave me support, guidance, and strength. I will forever be grateful for the care they provided and the humanity they showed. RIP My Love

Vanessa Arnedo has been a superior home hospice visitor for my father-in-law despite his hard-of-hearing and poor vision. Thanks Vanessa!

My name is Miriam, I am Marie Bonhomme’s daughter. I wanted to take the time to personally give thanks to this wonderful team that comes to my home to take care of my mom. This whole process has been challenging for me trying to provide care for my mother and holding full time job. Needless to say how grateful I feel when Hearttland hospice came in our life. Your services were more than welcomed. You not only take care of my mom but subsequently took care of me by your presence. Your team has brought professionalism, kindness, empathy, and mostly peace of mind. From Cynthia, Naomi, Roberta and Dyanne, words cannot express how thankful we are for all you do. Dyanne, has become a special friend. Also, Daryl, social worker and ARNP, thank you! We are forever grateful to this wonderful team! Heartland rock!!!! I highly recommend!
