The Sarasota house is Tidewell’s freestanding house for a short stay when symptoms need a nurse on site, or when a caregiver needs respite. This was such a sad, disappointing experience for our family. First the positive: The triage nurse, Michael, was excellent. And the 8 hours we spent at the Lakewood Ranch hospice house were amazing. They were supportive of all of us, taking great care of my Mom, talking to us. I could not ask for anything better. The rest, not so good. The hospice nurse never established a rapport with my Mom. She told me that the prolia drug my Mom had taken causes cancer and could have made her cancer worse adding she wished I could watch an “educational video” to better understand it. I consulted my endocrinologist at an academic medical center and it does not cause cancer. My Mom understandably struggled with the diagnosis and prognosis, I sought the nurse’s advice on how best to talk to her was pretty well dismissed. My Mom asked her if the antidepressants she took would help and the nurse told her they would not since they take six weeks to work. 8 hours after my Mom died my phone rang and it was Tidewell saying they were on their way to pick up her shower chair. Meanwhile they left morphine and other controlled substances in my Mom’s home. We asked the triage nurse who was there what to do with them and she did not know. I called the 24/7 line and asked and they did not know but said they would call me back. They never did. The irony of pushing hard to pick up a shower care while seemingly not concerned about the safe disposal of controlled substances is amazing.

This appears to be a duplicate listing of Tidewell Hospice. Both this and the main Tidewell Hospice location are claimed by the owner, but having two listings creates confusion for users searching for care or services. Our three Angels, Melissa, Jeri and Julie. These three young ladies came into our lives at a time when my father needed help the most. Melissa was phenomenal, patient, kind and compassionate not to just my father but my mother as well. Jeri was always available day and night for questions or concerns and when my father passed away in December she took care of everything for us and went above and beyond. Julie was amazing, her compassion, advice and genuine concern even after was so very comforting. To us, these three women became part of our family, will always be considered as such and made such a difficult few months so much easier to deal with. Thank you Angels Graham Hall
