My husband passed away during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2022. I am still suffering from the trauma of dealing with this company. They reused morphine that had been in a prior patients mouth which gave my husband an infection. My regular pharmacist was livid. They were so excited there was medicine left that they could reuse after my husband passed although it had been in my husband‘s mouth and he had a fever . The nurses and CNA were very professional, but the nursing manager was horrible. She was more concerned about her daughter’s horseback riding lessons than my husband. No comfort package was provided with mouth swabs or anything else. I was told they had a section at the Perry Hospital, which was not true. I only found out because I listened to them tell others on the phone that there was no such ward available any longer. My husband suffered horribly with me at home alone. I also paid for a caregiver to help me since they don’t really provide any type of assistance during the day. The hospice company in Newnan was wonderful to my mother-in-law and provided 24 hour care. The nursing manager, who was covering for his regular nurse, blamed me because his morphine was never delivered. I reported it first thing in the morning because the pharmacy never delivered the medicine the night before. His regular nurse told me it was because the doctor never signed the order for the approval of his meds. I still have nightmares thinking about how my husband suffered needlessly because of this company and he was in so much pain and unable to breathe.

Heart of GA was wonderful with my Dad, during his final days. We only had to deal with the hospice nurses for a few days, but I love each & every one that took care of him, & comforted me. I would recommend them to anyone needing hospice care for a loved one.

I wish i could recommend this service, however i cannot. They are nice enough people and will support you with prayer and sugar loaded snack baskets (yes, even for those diabetic clients) but they were of no real or practical help to me or my spouse and completely mislead us on several fronts. I’m upset that i was assured over and over that they only bill Medicare, yet they submitted a request for coverage from our BCBS as well - essentially exhausting his hospice benefit through that provider for the entire calendar year. No matter how many times i asked, I was assured over and over they only file medicare! Now I’m in a real mess since i discharged them over their lack of help and now his BCBS benefit has been exhausted, yet still I will ultimately have to obtain hospice services from another agency very soon. They totally lied on that one. I was also made a lot of promises about the help they could and would provide my husband, and me, yet those were all empty promises. Their nurses either wouldn’t or couldn’t perform wound care to take some of the load from the primary caregiver and only offered to come once a week when he requires twice daily dressings most days. Even the one time a week they did come, they never offered to handle the task on their own. They repeatedly said i shouldn’t have to buy wound dressing supplies, yet they could never effectively provide what was needed in a timely manner, or even at all in some cases. When calling them for assistance over the weekend (only when and after all backup resources had already been exhausted) i was literally told that I needed to come up with another plan!!! So that is what I’m left with, coming up with another plan. They will tell you this that and the other to get you to sign with them, but then not offer any real assistance other than getting the emergency med kit dropped off within the hour of signing the admission paperwork. I hate to say it, but after 3 weeks on their service, I was left with the overall impression that they want the people on their service to die quickly and without bothering them for anything other than prayer support or maybe some treat basket's. To say that I’m disappointed is an understatement at best.
