As I did much soul searching, I decided to give my honest review. After 1.5+ years with home healthcare, we decided to go with hospice because my dad is declining. The coordinator was great, but she canceled our home health services before the evaluation. The eval nurse didn't examine dad, but just conferred with me. She gave reasons for her denial of services, which didn't add up. Some of those reasons is partly because of the 24 hour care I do and arrange for him. One comment that was upsetting and not necessary was " do you think he has 6 months to live?" I'm am not in the medical field to make that determination. She wanted proof/data of a decline from a Dr. Because of my dad's decline, we relied on home health services instead. They had the recources to get the homehealth records of his decline. When inquired about other hospice services, she commented that the requirements are all the same, not likely to qualify. We were without ANY services because they called for a discharge date prior to the evaluation. Thankfully I pursued and with the help his home health services coordinator, we were able to get a local reputable hospice group to care for my dad with no issues.
