Cypress Hospice

There are so many misconceptions about what a hospice does that too many people are hesitant to try it for those they love. If you have been unsure, I hope that this review helps. For years my wonderful Mom-in-law had MDS blood cancer. She got treatments every two to four weeks. She also had pain from a degenerative spine. Finally she also developed Lewy Body dementia. In May of 2025, the cancer treatments had quit working, and they were stopped. Hospice was recommended, and the amazing people at Cypress Hospice entered our lives. We weren't expecting, and didn't get, a quick loss. We did know that the diseases would progress. MDS usually becomes AML leukemia. With our Cypress nurses we could track changes as she progressed. They helped us understand each change along the way. As changes occurred, they would adjust medications. The goal was always to keep Mom as comfortable as humanly possible. This they did. It was more than comfort though. They lavished Mom - and us- with love. They helped with her tasks such as getting cleaned up and changed. They also tracked charges and called or texted updates continually. They provide chaplain services for this families who want it, which we did. Mom loved all of her Cypress people - case workers, aides, nurses, chaplain, administrators. Mom passed on April 9, 2026. I was there for several days and nights. Not only were Mom's vitals and discomfort monitored and treated - which is all we had asked for - but we were given breaks and food, and provided with a care cart of water, tea, and coffee. They were there to listen, to answer questions, to help us through. Most of all, they helped Mom be in an atmosphere of peace and comfort - and love. Mom was in hospice for 9 months. Nine months of building relationships with some of the kindest, most compassionate people on the planet. It was a journey, one that we didn't need to take alone. If you are thinking that hospice is only for the last day or two of life, but your loved one is starting to need more care, more medications, more help along the way to the end, I recommend that you call Cypress Hospice right away. I can’t say enough good things about cypress. They took such great care of my grandmother for 10 months up until her passing . My biggest shoutout goes to nurse ashley, Denise, Amy, and pastor Dan. They truly don’t know how special they are to my family and I. Thank you ❤️

The staff was so caring and gentle with mom during her last days. I was kept up on everything they were doing for her. I could not have asked for better care for mom during her final days.
