Hospice of Hope - Ohio Valley

My mom had a stroke in February, 2022 and we struggled with getting her the care that she needed and in honoring her end of life wishes. It was a constant struggle with hospitals and other facilities until our family made the decision to choose Hospice of Hope to provide end of life care to our mom. I was asked by several individuals why do you need hospice care when your mom is in a facility? Well let me tell you it made all of the difference in the world and made a very emotionally hard time easier with the care they provided not only to our mom but to our family. We struggled at the nursing home getting the facility to give mom a shower and once we admitted her to Hospice of Hope they had their aide coming to the facility helping mom with her showers going above and beyond just a basic shower. I finally was able to see my beautiful mom again with the extra care they gave her like fixing her hair and doing her nails. This gave her family such comfort knowing she was getting this extra attention at the end of her life. I had to contact Hospice of Hope after hours several times during the course of her illness and they were always there for me and my mom. I honestly could not have endured this without their support. They made a major difference. Mom was going to die anyway rather we admitted her to Hospice of Hope but through their excellent care mom was able to die with peace and dignity and her pain symptoms were well managed by Hospice of Hope. It made such a difference to me that when I called them they were always there from her primary nurse Crystal to the excellent on call nursing staff Sharon and Vicky. We also received great spiritual support from Chaplain David. He called us and prayed for our family and always left notes in her room following his visits. This made such a difference during this difficult time. Now that our mother has passed I am blessed to be receiving bereavement services from a wonderful social worker Melissa to help me to move through the phases of grief. Hospice of Hope has wonderful staff and I highly recommend their care! Thank you Hospice of Hope for everything you did to help my family and my mom.

My mom was under their care in her home forabout 2 weeks .3.5 of those days having 24/7 nurse care. The social worker Mardee and chaplain Dave wirth eere winderfyl and her RN case mgr Janice Mitchell was THE best nurse i have ever encountered and i am an RN myself. Rachel. Head RN was very kind, Sharon who was with mom and i when she passed was excellent and caring.Lindsey seemed new but was nice. elizabeth was wonderful too. I did have a very bad experience with a nurse named Danielle who thought she could tell me i could not get in bed with mom and hold her though that was her wishes. she told us ,ridiculously, that we needed that in writing from my mom .lol..um false...and said it may make an actively dying patient agitated. But then priceeded to yell at me loydly in front if my mom and say sge would have me removed from MY moms home and that she had done so many times before to people. Wow really? I told her i hired HOH and i could easily fire them and i wanted her out. She called the office and told someone there that If i cated so much i woyld have been tbete all day .wow again.. I have my own health issues and am disabled and she knew thus pmus my mom had tons if company all day which is why i came later in day... The nerve of that nurse was unbelievable and she is no wY follows hospice beliefs! The case mgr and sicial worker apologized for her behavior but i was told to call Stephanie Hopper the directir of operations. Both me and my husband called with NO return call from her for apologies. Do not let this nurse named Danielke in ur home....had Ms Hopper returned oyr call i would not had said a negative word and would have given 5 stars.
