Apex has always been very professional and helpful. Chelsea goes above and beyond to promote healing and best practices! Communication is just the best too. Apex provides everything you want in home health care. A A A +++
I’ve been a medical professional since 1990, but long before I became a healthcare professional, I was a patient. That experience is what inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. Because I’ve worked in healthcare for so many years, I know the difference between someone who’s simply doing a job and someone who truly cares. I can honestly say that the nurses I’ve had through Apex have been exceptional. They’ve gone above and beyond to help me through the long journey of healing a chronic wound. The progress we’ve made compared to where we started has been incredible, and I truly believe their dedication has played a huge role in that success. While every nurse I’ve had has been wonderful, my current nurse, Chelsea, has been especially remarkable. She’s become more than just my nurse, she’s a trusted professional, an educator, and a genuine friend. Chelsea is compassionate, knowledgeable, and always willing to explain what’s happening and why. What sets her apart is that her care doesn’t stop when she walks out the door. She continues to research my condition and looks for ways to help me even after our visits are over. You can’t ask for much more from a healthcare professional than someone who continues thinking about their patients long after they’ve finished their charting. That kind of compassion, commitment, and dedication is rare, and it truly makes a difference. Apex is fortunate to have healthcare professionals like Chelsea representing their organization.
My mother was with Apex from January 16th to May 14th today. We have only encountered one issue with a nurse at the beginning, which was promptly resolved. We were very fond of her nurses and all of her therapists. My mother’s insurance from her job was set to expire on March 31, 2026. Subsequently, we transitioned to sooner care, which we informed the office about. We even suspended her therapy until I could obtain her other insurance coverage through Cobra. Fast forward to the end of April. I received an explanation of benefits from her job’s insurance, which indicated that they were not in network and that the expenses were being deducted from her out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum. I was alarmed because this would result in over $8,000 out-of-pocket expenses. I contacted the office first thing that Friday morning and spoke with a Lisa. I explained the situation to her, but she responded in a rude and condescending manner. She mentioned that she informed me that my mother’s insurance was in network and that she would not repeat this information. She was extremely unprofessional. I expressed my desire to call her out of her name, but my mother raised me better than that. She continued to berate me, and I responded by calling her a name. She accused me of recording the conversation, which I did not (wish I had) because I accidentally pressed the button on my iPhone, which is clearly audible. She then stated that she would have the owner, Mike, contact me and inform him that I was recording the conversation. I did not receive a call back, but I did not take it personally. Fast forward to today, May 14th. I called back to resume my mother’s therapy since I had paid Cobra last week. I then spoke with Lisa again, who was extremely rude from the beginning of the conversation. I maintained a cordial demeanor until she began arguing with me about the insurance that was on file after I mentioned that she had been switched to sooner care due to the reasons for her lack of therapy. She then placed me on hold in the middle of my conversation, and the owner, Mike, joined the line. Initially, I informed him that Lisa exhibited unprofessional behavior, to which he responded that she shared my sentiments and expressed regret for my perception. However, this did not constitute an apology. Subsequently, I mentioned that Lisa was responsible for telling him to contact me, but he refuted this, asserting that he had not evaded calling me and that they were awaiting my call. This contradicts her statement that he would contact me. I clarified that I had not mentioned that he avoided calling me, but his statement implies otherwise. He then interrupted me and inquired about my intentions. Refraining from being rude, I ended the call. Subsequently, I received a message from her primary care physician’s nurse informing me of her discharge. I was not provided with any prior notice, despite having planned to do so after today. Lisa and Mike’s conduct is highly unprofessional, and I will refrain from using Apex services in the future. Lisa is the sole billing representative, while Mike is the owner. It is unacceptable for healthcare professionals to exhibit such behavior. I intend to report them for their actions.
