They are lovely people...until they aren't. 😪 I was signed up with them for the care of my 94 yr old mother, with dementia. My mother & I were in the park when she had a stroke, on a Fri eve. My knee-jerk, automatic reaction was to call 911...who doesn't?...& she was taken to the hosp. Once there I called several different members of HGC for the "support for the family", as promised, but never received a call back. Perhaps, had I been given the support as promised I would've been able to correct my mistake & get my mother out of there. Monday I was called & notified that I had made an unforgivable mistake & was dropped like a hot potato, as their client. I was never informed that IF I took my mother to an ER/hosp that it was unforgiveable. Yeah, THATS the support they give? Very disappointed!!

I am forever grateful to Hospice of Green Country nurses, Autumn, Tonya and Rachel for their unwavering dedication and compassion shown for my mother these past 8 months. They made sure my mother was comfortable and honored her so gently. They kept me advised of her condition, always answered phone my calls with questions that I had. The Hospice of Green team were all angels and did their job with love and kindness. I will forever hold them dear to my heart and prayers for such wonderful people. Angels are among us, and they are abundant at Hospice of Green Country. Phyllis Wells

Unfortunately this hospice isn't very aware of certain lung disorders. I had a family member with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. We felt pressure to COPD medications, which are useless when IPF is scarring, not inflammation. A simple internet research would have provided at least some insight to the disease. They would call when they were at my door or 20mins prior, we weren't informed of the schedule at all, and when we asked for the information on it or how to fix it, no one had a clue and no changes were made. And the worst part? My family member's oxygen was turned down, down out of lack of knowledge, which sent him to the hospital. He was at 4-5L of oxygen and it was turned down to 2L. At the hospital, he was cranked up to 10-15L with a Cpap machine to assist. He had to be taken via ambulance. Certain comfort measures were not accommodated when asked. My family member did not feel like he was being listened to all around and he felt a lack of compassion. He did like one of the bath aids greatly, as she listened to exactly what he asked for. We wish she could have been with the second hospice we went with. I believe she was a student, soft spoken, African America, I think her name is Karen. I am sure that other diseases would be well cared for, but for this one, there is a huge gap of information.

Families often have questions beyond hospice care — estate planning, elder law, funeral planning, and more. Placements are limited and selective — we review applications and only accept organizations that meet our standards for this section.
