Most Recent Reviews
I recently used Modern Hospice for my mom who had liver cancer. In the beginning the services provided were great, over the course of 6 mths, the head RN started to no longer have the compassion, empathy, or love for the job. I would go as far as to say she became robotic. There was a time when I voiced concern of a foul smell coming from my mother and the RN advised it was normal and that it was the cancer. When I started bathing mom, I noticed she had a rash in her pelvis area. I informed the LPN that came to see mom that day of the rash and she provided me with cream to put on her. Once we started to treat the rash(yeast) in was then the smell went away. We could've treated the rash months ago, but instead the RN put it off on the cancer. The major incident that really rubbed me thr wrong way was when she passed on Monday, April 27, 2026( 2 days ago) mom's tumors on her liver had ruptured that Saturday and we were advised to not clean her anymore once we cleaned her the entire day bc it was becoming difficult to breathe as the day went on. Once mom passed on Monday morning, I contacted the nurse. I specifically asked the RN do we need to clean her, and she said no, the funeral home will do that. Little do they know, my grandpa in New Orleans passed and was on hospice two weeks prior, and my uncle passed in December, both on hospice and their nurse cleaned them both prior to the funeral home coming to get them. Once the funeral home came to pick up mom, I told them that the nurse did not clean her and that she had two day old blood and bowel on her. The funeral home said they will clean her but typically if the deceased is on hospice the nurse will clean and prepare them prior to the funeral home arriving to pick up the body. I apologized to the funeral home on Modern Hospice's behalf. I reached out to the Director to inform them of the laziness the RN experienced, and the Director did say they are to clean the body if it's dirty. I will not recommend this hospice company solely based on the RN I had. There were two LPNs that were great, Lindy and Ashley! I recommend they get their RN license bc the compassion, empathy, and love for the job shows in every way. They explain everything to the family so they know what to expect, all while displaying empathy and compassion for both the patient and family. Despite having Lindy and Cindy on the weekend a couple times while mom was on hospice, it does not take away from the horrible experience me and my family had with the company and RN as a whole. I do not recommend this company to anyone for hospice or home health bc the horrible RN we had also works for them in Home Health.

Families often have questions beyond hospice care — estate planning, elder law, funeral planning, and more. Placements are limited and selective — we review applications and only accept organizations that meet our standards for this section.
