As both a family member and a physician, I had the opportunity to experience this hospice team from a unique perspective during my former father-in-law’s final days. Dr. Lida and the entire team demonstrated exceptional compassion, responsiveness, and respect—not only for my FIL’s wishes, but for those of our family as well. When I shared that he had declined significantly since her previous visit, she responded immediately, thoughtfully adjusted his comfort measures, and the difference was noticeable. His comfort visibly improved. What impressed me most as a physician was their willingness to collaborate. They welcomed clinical discussion with humility and professionalism while remaining firmly grounded in what mattered most: the patient’s comfort and dignity. They struck the balance of supporting me as both a physician and a grieving family member while bringing the expertise that hospice medicine requires.
