About Hospice of Okeechobee - Port St. Lucie

Hospice of Okeechobee is a community nonprofit in the Chapters Health family, and the Port St. Lucie office is where families in St. Lucie and Martin counties start. The team comes to the house, and it also cares for someone who already lives in assisted living, a nursing home, or a hospital, so getting hospice does not require a move. Nurses and aides help with pain, breathing, and the other symptoms that wear a family down. A social worker helps figure out what the next days need, including how relatives can share the care. Someone can be reached around the clock when a symptom changes overnight, while the office itself keeps weekday hours. Neighbors in St. Lucie and Martin counties use this office, and the hospice has cared for families since 1987.

The staff at Chapters Health were wonderful to my dad and our family on the last day of my dad’s life. We were transitioning from another hospice provider that was not providing my dad the care they’d promised, when it appeared my dad had a stroke at home. Director Hallie and Regional Director Katie were on the phone with me all morning and into the afternoon jumping hurdles to get my dad help. When RN Keisha arrived she was able to get things swiftly under control and had oxygen and a bed at the house within the hour. Lenny, the “tuck in” nurse, arrived to help get my dad settled in and then LPN Sonia came to spend the night with us. My dad passed peacefully and without pain a few hours later. Every member of the Chapters team was professional, caring and kind to my dad and our family. All our questions were answered and I felt supported during a difficult time. I wish I had called them months ago when my dad first needed hospice support.

Pick literally any other hospice. Worst experience 0/10. Not equipped with appropriate items, inexperienced nurses, ridiculously slow moving.

Chapters Health Hospice in Okeechobee, FL This place Sucks! Do not bring your dying loved one to this place! Hospice is supposed to help people that are dying not throw them out on the street! No help putting him in car, no oxygen, nothing. Left him in a chair waiting for family to pick him up!

Families often have questions beyond hospice care — estate planning, elder law, funeral planning, and more. Placements are limited and selective — we review applications and only accept organizations that meet our standards for this section. Listings are paid advertising, not recommendations or endorsements. Families review the information and choose professionals for themselves.
