I filed a complaint on their license today. I would leave a 1 start ,but I like the nurses and Tonya. My mom was a patient. She was dismissed for receiving treatment for internal bleeding even though their own reading material said you can receive treatment. She wasnt a patient because of this issue too. It is because they upper her blood thinners. I was told by the nurse that she was going to be referred to a home health. I've been waiting for about a week to hear from the home health. My mom is running out of her medications. The pharmacy wont refill them because she is no longer seeing their doctor. Her BP was 183/117 due to her uncontrolled pain this morning. I called the hospice to see when we would hear from this mysterious home health center. I was informed that her PCP needs to set it up. I told the woman on the phone that I was told by the nurse that they were setting that up. Then the woman on the phone said she had to speak to the director about her referral. So which one is it. Do I not need to worry about it and they are setting it up? Do I need her pcp to set it up? Or is there now a magical referral again? Im a patient advocate. I most certainly would have already had this home health service set up if I was told that I needed to have her PCP get the referral. My mother is out of her pain medication and one of her heart medications. I cant get them refilled. I cant get her into her old PCP immediately like I need to. If my mother die because of this incompetents, heads will roll. Also, I do not appreciate the dismissive tone from the woman I spoke with. This is your fault! Not mine! My next step filing a complaint with the state medical board on this Dr's license. If my mother dies, im going to sue this company.

Heart of Hospice in Monroe truly lives up to its name. The staff here are some of the most compassionate and understanding people I’ve ever encountered. They treat patients and families with genuine care, patience, and respect. It’s not just as clients, but as people going through one of life’s hardest moments. They always take time to explain everything clearly, provide comfort, and make sure both the patient and family feel supported every step of the way. The nurses and social workers go above and beyond to ensure that care is personal, peaceful, and dignified. You can tell everyone there has a heart for what they do. I’m deeply grateful for the comfort and kindness they provided. I would highly recommend Heart of Hospice to anyone looking for a team that truly cares.

I rarely write reviews, but my experience with Heart of Hospice in Monroe, LA was so devastating that I feel morally obligated to share it. One star is the lowest rating I can give, but even that feels far too generous for the pain and trauma they caused during my mother’s final hours. When I first spoke to the hospice nurse while my mother was still in the hospital, I felt hopeful. She was compassionate and reassured me that Heart of Hospice would walk with us through every step, providing comfort and support as my mother transitioned home. She promised their team would meet us at the house to ensure my mother was settled and comfortable. But that never happened. No one was there when we arrived home. I called to express my deep disappointment and concern, but it was already clear: they had failed my mother and my family. The next day, things became even worse—beyond anything I could have imagined. My mother was in pain and needed urgent help. Around 8:30 AM, our caregiver called for assistance. The hospice director said a nurse would be sent out, but then decided to cancel that visit, saying another nurse would come at noon. There was no urgency, no compassion—just bureaucratic coldness, even knowing my mother was suffering. Thankfully, the first nurse insisted on seeing my mother anyway, recognizing how dire the situation was. The second nurse arrived well after 1:00 PM, confused and unaware of my mother’s condition. She had no idea why she was even there. Later that day, an aide arrived to bathe my mother. In the middle of the process, she removed my mother’s oxygen mask, became distracted talking to the caregiver, and simply forgot to replace it. She left, leaving my mother gasping for air. The caregiver returned and, horrified, immediately put the oxygen mask back on. Hospice had been explicitly told my mother needed oxygen around the clock. We later reviewed our home surveillance footage. Watching my mother, in her final hours, left without the oxygen she needed to breathe—struggling alone while being ignored—was soul-crushing. This was not a simple oversight. It was gross negligence. No one should ever have to watch their loved one suffer like that. After seeing the video and realizing the full extent of their failure, I made the decision to terminate their services immediately. We called another hospice company, desperate to find someone who would offer the basic compassion and dignity my mother deserved. Tragically, she passed away later that same day. Instead of peace and comfort, her final moments were filled with confusion, neglect, and suffering. Her last day was stolen from us. We are left heartbroken and angry. My mother deserved to spend her last day surrounded by love and thoughtful care—not chaos, miscommunication, and careless mistakes. It is incomprehensible that people entrusted with end-of-life care could be so indifferent to a patient’s suffering. We have video evidence of the incident and are now consulting with an attorney to explore legal options. I can only pray that no other family experiences what we did. I share this painful story so others can be warned: Heart of Hospice of Monroe failed not just professionally, but morally. To anyone reading this, please proceed with caution. We entrusted them with the most precious person in our lives, and they betrayed that trust in the worst way possible.
