My grandma is a current patient and I'm beyond frustrated and appalled at the lack of care and professionalism provided. The only reason I gave 2 stars is at one point we had a nurse that was responsive to our needs and returned phone calls in a timely manner. She moved on to another job and I see why now. I have called for help and it's taken 3 days for a nurse to come out. My grandma stopped eating and drinking for almost 3 days now and I've had to fight and call multiple times to get help. No one knows what's going on or even what meds she's on when supposedly her file is right in front of them. I will be removing her from their care asap. If you can call it care. There are a couple great nurses...thank you Arica and Linda. Neither were actually assigned to my grandma but helped when they could on top of their own patients. With that exception I'm thoroughly disappointed and completely frustrated with this company and please read the reviews. I didn't and now I'm stuck trying to find proper care in the middle of my grandma dying. Thanks Vitas you've made this awful experience so much worse.
We chose to have Vitas hospice in order for my mom to stay at home, while she was unfortunately losing her long battle with cancer. The actual Vitas staff and nurses were phenomenal, every single one of them. Two stuck out in my head as being over the top nurses and those nurses were Nikki and Elizabeth. Father Yanka, also helped our family and went well above and beyond expectations. Your staff helped make a terrible situation, a lot less terrible. My only complaint is on the contract nurses that replaced the Vitas nurses when they were needed. The contract nurses in no way, shape, or form compared to the expertise and assistance the Vitas nurses provided. I would suggest only hiring and providing Vitas nurses. Thank you again for allowing my mom to stay at home and be comfortable with her family, instead of at a hospital where we may not have been able to see her.
I do not recommend anyone to go through this Hospice center. My family had never been through hospice.. we chose this process because the Hospital painted them to be a god send.. which they weren’t! My mother was never regularly checked by them.. I couldn’t even tell you nurses names besides Nancy. The ending of her life was rough! The nurse came... distributed morphine... and left us! I’m her 2nd oldest... I had to watch my mom take her last breath.. I had to check her pulse to assure she was gone! I had to do things I shouldn’t of had to do! The doctor/nurse left us when he KNEW she was going to die!
