What is an Inpatient Hospice Facility?
Most hospice care is provided in the patient's home, but some hospice providers operate dedicated inpatient facilities. These facilities are designed specifically for hospice care and provide 24/7 medical supervision and support.
Inpatient hospice facilities are used for short-term stays when symptoms need intensive management that can't be provided at home, when caregivers need respite, or when a patient doesn't have a suitable home environment for care.
When Inpatient Care is Needed
Most hospice care is provided at home. However, inpatient facilities are valuable when:
